Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, has continued to double his efforts in the fight against Kidnappers, Banditry, Murderers, insurgents and those who commit various heinous crimes.
Just recently, troops under his command arrested one Lot Dauda who confessed to have murdered one Mrs Dorathy Jonathan at Afana village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Following his arrest and confessional statement an accomplice, one Abubakar Mato was traced and picked by troops who were determined to roundup all those connected to the murder.
Charging his troops to do more, Gen. Abubakar who is also the Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), mobilised the taskforce to also thwart an attempt to kidnap one Bishop Paul Zamani of Anglican Diocese at Sambak Gida village in Jaba LGA of Kaduna State, a statement from the Spokesman of the Task Force, Capt. James Oya said.
“Troops swiftly mobilised to the scene after receiving a distress call and exchanged fire with the kidnappers who fled with gunshot wounds”, Oya said.
It would be recalled that Dauda was arrested by the OPSH in Southern Kaduna for the murder of Jonathan.
Jonathan was murdered last Friday, September 1, while fetching firewood at Afana village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the State.
A statement from Capt Oya had said that Dauda confessed that he approached Mrs Jonathan, while working on a farmland and wanted to get intimate forcefully with the victim, who put up a struggle leading to her gruesome murder.
Dauda further admitted to committing the crime with an accomplice who was at then still at large, our correspondent had said.
