Abuja – Pastor Tope Omage, the Assistant Pastor, Redeemed Christian Church of God, House of Joy Parish, Gwagalada, FCT, on Sunday admonished Christians to seek Godly counsel before starting any business.
Omage gave the advice during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of the two-day empowerment seminar tagged, “Wisdom for Wealth Creation”, in Abuja.
“The purpose of starting a business is to live a secured and fulfilled life, and so before starting you must have knowledge about what you are intending to do and also go for internship or apprenticeship.
“As Christians, one needs to seek wise counsel from people of knowledge on the intended business.
“A lot of people are looking for government jobs and free money, just start small no matter what and grow the business gradually and that is the secret of wealth,” she said.
Similarly, Omage advised civil servants not to live beyond their income, adding that one’s income should determine one’s expenditure.
She said although God is the only one that guarantees wealth but as individuals we have our part to play, adding that one needs to develop skills or have a business for additional income.
Omage said the seminar was aimed at giving ideas on Godly principles on how to make wealth and proper application.
“If we hear and we don’t put to practice, it will not translate to wealth. We had two sessions, the seminar and the practical session of hat making as well as fish business.
“The number of people that will key into the programme will definitely see the difference in wealth, prosperity and blessings,” she said.
The Chief Executive Officer, Sustainable Environment and Fisheries Foundation, Mrs Ololade Adegoke, said the revenue that comes from fish outweighs cassava and rice.
However, she said that an individual can start the business and not be discouraged in the short or long run.
The hat and fascinator maker, Mrs Jumoke Oladejo, said one needs to be diligent and hardworking to achieve the desired goals in life.
“You must not look down on yourself but rather remain focused; the more you make the hat, the more it gets better.
“Move to do some adverts; the social media is a platform that is really helping creative entrepreneur.
“I believe in the season of recession, one should sit down and think, at the end of day it could be a season to shine,” she said.
