KADUNA (SUNDIATA POST)- Sen Sunday Katung (PDP-Kaduna South) has donated food items and N11m to some orphans and widows in his constituency.

The food items were donated separately at the Rafiki Orphanage Home, the ECWA widows training school in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area and the Gweimen Centre in Jaba Local Government Area.
Katung donated the items as part of activities marking his birthday and that of his mother.
Presenting the items at the three locations, Katung explained that the gesture was borne out of his desire to assist vulnerable members of society.
Represented by Ali Kalat, member, representing Jema’a constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, said giving to the less-privileged on his birthday has been a yearly ritual that he intends to sustain.
The Chairman of the distribution committee, Gideon Gwani, said the items included 25 bags of rice, indomie, semolina and spaghetti.
Gwani stated that the disttubution of the items was part of the lawmaker’s effort to promote unity, love and kindness in his constituency.
In their separate remarks, Rev. Yunusa Madu, a former ECWA General Secretary and Alhaji Alhassan Garba, Chairman, Jama’atu Nasril Islam,  Jema’a LGA, lauded the lawmaker for his humanitarian assistance.
According to them, orphans and widows were children of God,”if one helps them, one is crediting one’s personal account and making deposit with one’s maker.”
Also speaking, the State PDP Chairman, Edward Masha, said that the lawmaker had enhanced the image of the party in the zone through his philanthropic activities.
Masha called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate the lawmaker in coming to the aid of the downtrodden.
On their part, Cornelius Samuel, Mrs Sarah Bature and Dr Felicia Kegang, the heads of the Rafiki orphanage home, ECWA widows training school and Gweimen Centre, respectively, applauded Katung for his act of kindness.
Amina Musa, one of the beneficiaries, thanked Katung for his continued support and urged him to sustain his invaluable gestures.  (NAN)
