ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – Barely 24 hour after the deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was reported to have escaped assassination attempt, the wife of the former governor of Lagos State, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Wednesday occupied the official seat of the number two man in the senate who was out on official assignment.
Her refusal to vacate the seat even when aggrieved People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senators asked her to do so nearly triggered another rowdy session.
Senator Tinubu who had earlier in the Seventh Senate confirmed her ambition to become a deputy senate president sat on Ekweremadu’s seat throughout the session on Wednesday.
Senate President Bukola Saraki, who presided over the stormy session on Wednesday could not utter a word.
Meanwhile, Senate was on Wednesday silent on the reported attempt to kill Ekweremadu on Tuesday by suspected hired killers.
Though some senators were seen in small groups talking about the incident, but Senate as an institution on Wednesday failed to mention the said attack on the floor.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

A source confirmed to Sundiata Post on Wednesday that the security operatives attached to the deputy Senate President have briefed the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase.
According to the source, the chief detail to the deputy Senate President, who was in the convoy when the incident occurred, was at the Force Headquarters on Wednesday to give details of the attack.
Police was also said to have commenced investigation into the attack.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, Uche Anichukwu, has declined further comment on the attack, insisting on Wednesday that it has become a security matter.
According to him, “It has become a security matter. Report has been lodged with the security bodies, and such report contain full details of what happened on Tuesday. The security operatives are on top of it and we have done what we are suppose to do”.
The attempt to kill Ekweremadu reportedly occurred at about 10 a. m. between Apo Flyover and Dantata Construction Company’s yard, close to the Old Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters junction on his way to work in Abuja.
The suspects who operated in a tinted, white-coloured Mercedez Benz AMG E63 without a number plate, were chauffeured by a long-bearded light skinned foreigner, apparently a mercenary.
