MINNA – Former Head of State, retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, on Friday described the death of Senator Dahiru Kuta as a big loss to the country.
Babangida said this while speaking to newsmen at the palace of the Emir of Minna, shortly after the remains of the late Senator were laid to rest at the Minna Central Cemetery.
“I have known him and his parents since he was a little boy, his death is a big loss to the country, the state and the emirate.
“I pray God to give his family and well-wishers the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said.
Also speaking, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, urged political leaders to always imbibe the fear of God in everything they did, adding that no one knew when death would come.
The burial was attended by Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Emir of Minna, Farouk Bahago and Senator Abdul Ningi, the Deputy Senate Majority Leader who led the senate delegation to pay their last respect to the deceased.
The prayer session was led by the Chief Iman of Minna Central Mosque, Sheikeh Ibrahim Fari at the Emir’s Palace, Minna.
The Kuta was until his death, the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Character. (NAN)
