Keffi – Some telecommunication stakeholders have commended
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on the numerous sensitisation campaigns it carried out
to educate operators on best practices in the industry.
The stakeholders made the commendation on Thursday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
on the sideline of the Regional Sensitisation Workshop on “Dangers of Dealing on Fraudulently Activated SIM
cards held in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Mr Micheal Eneche, a 9Mobile Dealer Specialist, said that the sensitisation by NCC was thorough and loaded
with relevant information which many stakeholders had been yearning for answers.
He said that the commission provided stakeholders with all they needed to know and proferred answers on
challenges facing the industry at moment.
Eneche said that the workshop was impactful and would assist agents who had been well educated on how
to do their jobs thoroughly.
“We are now aware of the essence and credibility of SIM registration exercise.
“So we expect a more credible database and national security will be taken seriously.”
On his part, Mr Paul Ochigbo, Alisa infinty, a Trade Partner with network providers, said that the workshop
was a welcome development “and we want NCC to continue doing this.”
Ochigbo said he was impressed with the workshop as it had made agents to know that it was
not all about pushing for sales and target but to put in mind national interest and security.
“Also, there are some infractions from agents revealed to us and I hope that from time to time, NCC will
organise workshops like this to educate more agents and stakeholders so that they can do the right thing.”
Mrs Joy Ogbole, an agent and a participant, said that the NCC should try and organise more of such workshops
to educate stakeholders on best practices in the industry.
She added that “with such workshops, we will be more informed about the dos and donts in the industry.”
