IDO (Ekiti) – A septuagenarian, Emmanuel Odewale, has expressed concern on the decline in the number of farmers in the country due to old age.
Odewale made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ido, Ekiti, on Friday.
He, therefore, urged youths to embrace farming as a lifelong occupation instead of taking to commercial motorcycle operation.
The septuagenarian said though the syndrome for quick money had pushed majority of youths into commercial motorcycle operation.[eap_ad_2]
He said experience had shown that this type of business had no future, and urged youths to shun any business that would not guarantee them bright future.
“Farming has future and contribute greatly to the economic development of any nation, so our youths should embrace the profession in order to have successful lifetime,’’ Odewale said.
Odewale, 74, also urged government at all levels to put more efforts in encouraging unemployed youths to embrace farming.
He cautioned politicians against distributing motorcycles to youths in disguise of empowering them. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
