Sundiata Post – Sevilla is poised to kick off their summer transfer window with the signing of Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke, according to multiple reports. The 26-year-old has been spotted in the city and is expected to finalize a three-year deal with the club on Monday, as reported by El Desmarque via Relevo.
Ejuke spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Royal Antwerp from CSKA Moscow, where he scored five goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances. His performance in Belgium marked a significant improvement over his time in Russia, where he struggled to make an impact. This season, he will join Sevilla as a free agent, bringing with him the ability to play on both sides of the field and add pace and one-on-one ability to the team.
Sevilla’s current squad includes Dodi Lukebakio, Lucas Ocampos, Suso, Erik Lamela, and Adnan Januzaj, but few of these players have met expectations. Suso and Lamela are expected to leave the club, and Sevilla may consider offers for Ocampos, who has only one year left on his deal. The addition of Ejuke, therefore, makes strategic sense, as it provides the team with a versatile and dynamic winger who can contribute to the team’s success.
The signing of Ejuke is part of Sevilla’s summer overhaul, which aims to revitalize the team’s performance. With Ejuke on board, Victor Orta and Garcia Pimienta will have a new option to bolster their attack and create a more competitive squad. The transfer is expected to be completed in the coming days, with a medical and signature scheduled for next week.
