Seychelles has withdrawn from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying rounds, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said in statement on Thursday.
Seychelles were scheduled to face Sierra Leone this weekend in the second leg of the second round of the qualifiers. Sierra Leone won the first leg 2-0 in Freetown two weeks ago.
“In a letter dated Thursday, 31 July 2014, the Seychelles Football Federation informed the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) of its withdrawal from the Orange Africa Cup of Nations – Morocco 2015,” Caf said in a statement.[eap_ad_2]
“The Organising Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations will examine the case of the withdrawal of Seychelles, which came at a time that Sierra Leone had started the journey for the return leg, originally scheduled for Saturday, 2 August 2014,” added Caf.
This move sees Sierra Leone join Ivory Coast, Cameroon and DR Congo in Group D of the next phase of the qualifying rounds. (supersport.com)[eap_ad_3]
