Kaduna, – The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, on Thursday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his reelection and advised him to carry all Nigerians along.

The Secretary General of the council, Dr Nafiu Baba-Ahmed, said at a press briefing in Kaduna on the just concluded presidential and national assembly elections, that Nigerians should shun all acts that would destabilise existing peace.

Baba-Ahmed advised those who lost to either accept the outcome of the elections as the will of Allah or seek redress in court.

“They should know that Allah gives power to whoever he chooses,” he said, adding that those who have issues with the conduct of the polls should follow legal processes in challenging the outcome.

Baba-Ahmed noted that the challenges recorded during the elections must be effectively handled by the Independent National Electoral Commission and relevant stakeholders before the upcoming elections on March 9.

This he said, would enhance the credibility and acceptability of the elections.

The secretary general appealed to all Nigerians not to allow the elections outcomes to divide them or cause breach of the peace.

He commended Nigerians for their peaceful conduct and encouraged them to demonstrate the same level of maturity in the upcoming elections.

Also, Dr Auwal Abdulsalam, member of the council, prayed Allah to guide the President to be just, fair, and give equal opportunities to all Nigerians.

Abdulsalam cautioned the youth against recklessness so as not to put themselves and others in harm’s way before, during and after elections.

He also enjoined Nigerians to live in peace and harmony irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
