Lagos – A 40-year-old shop assistant, who allegedly stole electronic equipment valued at N4 million, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, Sunday Agbalugbo, who resides at No.2 Ade St., Ipaja Lagos is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
But the prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu told the court that the offences were committed between May 2014 and January 2015 as an employee of Kenwood Communications Ltd located in Ikeja.
He said the accused stole the items that were in his care.
“Agbalugbo conspired with others still at large to steal portable radio sets, fans, phones and other electronic gadgets and sold same, property of his employer, Mrs Ifeyinwa Dibia,
“He sold the goods and converted the proceeds to personal use.’’
The offences contravened Section 278, 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties should show an evidence of three years’ tax payment as part of the bail condition.
In addition, she ordered that the sureties should a deposit N50, 000 at the Deputy Registrar’s office.
The case was adjourned to June 7 for trial. (NAN)
