Abuja- Samson Siasia, Head Coach of the national under-23 male team, on Thursday in Abuja said his team might not be participating in the Glo Premier League pre-season tourney.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament, being organised by the League Management Company (LMC), is scheduled to hold from Jan. 24 to Feb. 1 in Abuja.
It was to have Kano Pillars, Enyimba International, Warri Wolves and Dolphins, as well as the national under-23 and under-20 teams, as participants.
The tournament dubbed “the Super 6’’ was planned to prepare the teams for their continental engagements later in the year.
However, Siasia told newsmen that his team would be leaving for Tunisia on Jan. 22 for two international friendlies against the North African country’s national under-23 team.
“We have two friendly games on Jan. 24 and Jan. 28, and these are good games to assess the players against Tunisia. I think it will make more sense than the Super 6.
“We will leave the country on Jan. 22 and play on Jan. 24 and Jan. 28, before we return to Nigeria.

“ I believe it will make more sense to honour those matches than play in the Super 6 tournament,” he told newsmen at the team’s training camp.
The former Super Eagles coach however gave a hint that there could still be a slim possibility of his team playing in the tournament.
“We are still trying to get more information about the Super 6, and maybe we can divide the team into two.
“Perhaps, one of the teams will travel to Tunisia, and the other will play in the Super 6. We are still working on that,” he said.
NAN reports that the national under-23 team, also known as Dream Team VI, is preparing for the 2015 All-Africa Games Qualifiers and is presently training in Abuja.(NAN)
