Kano – Alhaji Ali Koki, Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Singer Market Traders Association, Kano, has appealed to wealthy individuals and organisations that made pledges during the recent fire outbreak at the market to redeem them.
Koki made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday.
He said the call was necessary in order to support traders affected by the inferno to rebuild their burnt shops.
He said that no fewer than 300 traders lost their wares during the incident.
“There are a number of individuals and organisations that promised to support the affected traders.
“Things are difficult and earlier they redeem the pledges, the better for the traders”, he said.

commended a Kano-based businessman, Alhaji Isiyaka Rabi’u, for donating N1million in support of the victims.
The chairman also commended the Federal Government for sending a powerful delegation under the leadership of the Minister of Interior, retired Gen. Abdulraham Dambazau, to commiserate with the traders.
He also commended the Kano State Government for settling up a committee to investigate the cause of the fire at Singer and other markets in the city.
He expressed hope that the committee would complete the assignment and submit its report within the shortest time possible.
