RIVERS- The Rivers State Police Command has denied the arrest of Gift David, the wanted leader of the cult gang that murdered the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako
Angbasbim in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.
Newsmen reports that a gang led by David had ambushed, captured, and decapitated SP Angbasbim last Friday.
The spokesperson of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, made the denial in Port Harcourt on Tuesday following a circulating photo alleging that 2 Baba has been arrested.
In the photo seen by our correspondent, two suspects were seated on the ground at a police station surrounded by operatives.
But Iringe-Koko said the photo was fake and did not emanate from the command.
She stated that members of the public will be notified when the perpetrators of that heinous crime are apprehended.
“The photos circulating in social media that SP Angbashim’s killers have been arrested are fake. The public should discountenance it as it did not emanate from the command,” she stated.
She also expressed the commitment of the police to arresting all those involved in the gruesome murder of Angbasbim.
The state police image maker urged members of the public to take advantage of the N100 million bounty placed on the gang leader by volunteering useful information that would lead to his arrest.
“If you see something, say something,” the state police spokesperson added.
