Sokoto – The Sokoto State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a motion calling on the state government to rehabilitate the 76 kilometre Shagari-Tureta road.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the resolution followed a motion by Alhaji Mohammad Bashir, the member representing Shagari constituency.
The resolution also urged the state government to reconstruct a bridge along the road.
Bashir had told the members that the road require urgent attention to save the people using it from further hardship and boost socio-economic activities.
“This will go a long way in reducing the suffering of motorists and protecting the road from the menace of future gully erosion”.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the road links communities in Kebbi and Zamfara.
The Speaker, Alhaji Salihu Maidaji, who presided over the sitting, directed the Clerk of the assembly to notify the government to consider the rehabilitation of the road. (NAN)
