Sokoto Govt. bans posters on public buildings

Sokoto- The Task Force on the Removal of Illegal Structures and Beautification of Sokoto State has banned political parties from pasting posters on public buildings.

Chairman of the task force, Aminu Bala, announced this at a meeting with leadership of political parties in Sokoto on Thursday.

Balasaid the rate at which public structures were being defaced by such posters was very disturbing.

“This is very disturbing and it is as well an illegal act which should stop forthwith.

“Such posters should only be pasted at the designated, legal areas and any contravention of the law will be duly sanctioned”, he warned.

Bala explained that the meeting became imperative as the political tempo leading to the general polls in 2015 peaked.

He said that the task force will soon embark remove all such illegally-pasted posters.

“It is not an action aimed at witch-hunting any political party. It will affect all the political parties’’, he stressed.

The representatives of political parties who attended the meeting promised to abide by the ban. (NAN)
