Sokoto – The Sokoto State House of Assembly on Tuesday agreed to provide for a law for the establishment of the Assembly Service Commission.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that lawmakers backed the motion moved by Alhaji Malami Muhammad (PDP- Sokoto South II) and seconded by Alhaji Abdullahi Randa (PDP- Tureta), for the establishment of the commission.
According to Muhammad, the intension is to make provisions for the establishment of the commission and its function.
“This is in order to organise the management and administrative structure of the House of Assembly for improvement in service delivery.”
He recalled that a bill on the matter was presented in 2015 as a private member bill, adding that he will present a similar one because of the importance of having a commission responsible for regulating activities of the assembly workers.
NAN reports that a number of lawmakers who contributed to debate on the motion, supported the establishment of the commission.
The Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, who presided over the sitting, put the motion to a voice vote and was unanimously adopted. (NAN)
