Sokoto loses perm sec, Pilgrims Welfare Board

SOKOTO – The Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Salihu Gatawa, is dead.

A statement signed by Abubakar Dangusau, Special Assistant, Press Affairs to Gov. Aliyu Wamako said Gatawa died in Kaduna on Sunday at the age of 51, after a brief illness.

It said that the deceased was buried at his home town Gatawa, in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area, according to Islamic rites.

The statement indicated that his funeral was attended by Wamako uand the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, among others.

“The deceased is survived by two wives and twelve children,” it added. ( NAN)
