Shagari – Sokoto State Government says it has earmarked over N6 million for the construction of additional structures at the Annuri Model Academy, Dandin-Mahe, Shagari Local Government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Aminu Tambuwal disclosed this in Dandin-Mahe on Sunday at the graduation of 160 students of the school which is owned by the community.
Represented by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Mani Katami, Tambuwal enumerated the structures to include a block of three classrooms, offices and conveniences, among others.
”These structures will be completed in the next 90 days, so as to expand the school which also clocked 25 years today.
” This is the modest contribution of the state government to boost effective teaching and learning,”he added.
Tambuwal further said that the state government was making frantic efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the state of emergency already declared on the education sector.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Jabbi Kilgori, said that the state of emergency affected both western and religious education.
The Chairman of Shagari Local Government, Alhaji Jabbi Shagari, commended Tambuwal for according priority attention on the education sector.
NAN reports that Tambuwal donated a copy of the Holy Quran and N3,000 to each of the graduands in addition to wheel chair to each of the physically-challenged graduands of the school.
