Sokoto – Sokoto State Government has embarked on the construction of 1,200- sitting capacity International Conference Centre at Kasarawa-Sokoto, at the cost of over
N428 million.
Mr Ibrahim Al-Mustapha, the consultant to the state government on the project, made the disclosure on Monday in Sokoto during a media tour of the facility.
He said that the centre consisted of smaller conference rooms, VIP lounges, rest and changing rooms, a mosque, restaurant, among other facilities.
“The contract for the project was awarded in June 2014, while the actual work commenced in March, 2015.
“The construction has so far reached about 42 per cent completion stage, while the contractor had so far been paid about 40 per cent of the total contract sum.
“The contractor had been paid according to the work he had so far executed.
“The government is fully committed to timely completion of the project, between now and the end of this year.
” So far, so good and we are satisfied with the level of work so far executed, but, the contractor should mobilise more skilled workers to the site,” Al-Mustapha said.
Al-Mustapha, the Director of Aestarch Development Services, promised that the company would not compromise standard in the execution of the project according to specifications.
