ADDIS ABABA – South Africa’s Under 20 National Team, the Amajita, is in Addis Ababa ahead of the first leg match against their Ethiopian counterparts in the second round of the African Youth Championship qualifier. The team arrived in the early hours of Friday for the Sunday encounter and would resume training Friday afternoon. Amajita Head coach, Shakes Mashaba told journalists in Addis Ababa that his squad would perform well even with the absence of some key players. “I believe this is a good chance for the boys we picked up at the SAFA U19 Championships held recently in Bloemfontein, South Africa, to show what they are made of. “The good thing though about this team is that we have the spine of the team that won the U20 COSAFA Cup in Lesotho last year and I am positive they can do the business,” said Mashaba. The coach was, however, full of respect for the Ethiopians who had beaten Seychelles home and away. “This tells you that they have something to offer and we cannot ignore that, but the Amajita would pick-up from where they left-off` in the COSAFA Cup tournament. “We are going to apply the same positive winning mentality we use to win the COSAFA Cup.” The team is hoping for an away win to ease their road to the Senegal 2015 and hopefully the U20 World Cup.
