Jo’burg – South Africa posted a 12 billion rand (894 million dollars) trade surplus in December, beating market expectations by far, following a revised 1.7 billion rand deficit in November, data from the revenue agency showed on Tuesday.
Exports fell by 6.1 per cent on a month-on-month basis, while imports were down 19.6 per cent, the South African Revenue Service said in a statement.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a trade surplus of 6 billion rand for December. (NAN).
