Spanish parents arrested for planning to send twins to join Syria war




MADRID – Interior Ministry on Tuesday said Spanish have arrested the parents of two 16 year-old boys for planning to send them to Syria to fight in the civil war there.

The ministry said the boys were arrested in Badalona near Barcelona.

“The twins were prepared to join terrorist militias in Syria.

“The family, which has Moroccan roots, made contact with an Islamist network in Morocco that recruits terrorist fighters.

“An older brother to the boys was killed carrying out terrorist activities in Syria last year,’’ the ministry said in a statement. (dpa/NAN)
