Speaker expresses worry about poor attitude to sanitation in Ekiti

Ado-Ekiti – The Speaker of Ekiti House of Assembly, Mr Kola Oluwawole, says some residents of the state have poor attitude to observance of the monthly sanitation in the state .

In a statement issued by Mr Stephen Gbadamosi, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, the lawmaker observed that the poor attitude was common among the youth and commercial motorcyclists.

“I assure you that those citizens who breached the stay-at-home order on the exercise will be handed over to the police for appropriate sanctions.

“I frown at the lackadaisical attitude, particularly of youths and commercial motorcycle riders, towards the monthly sanitation exercise.

“I appeal to our people that subsequent exercise should be taken more seriously’’, the statement said.

The lawmaker said in the statement that he monitored the exercise in some towns in Irepodun and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the state where he observed poor attitude of the people of some residents.

“I, however, thank the youths in Igede-Ekiti where hundreds of members of the Catholic Youths Organisation of Ekiti Diocese, seized the opportunity of the exercise to clean blocked drains in front of the church,’’ the statement quoted him as saying.(NAN)
