IKEJA – Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has called on all Muslims to pray fervently for the unity, peace and development of Nigeria.
This is contained a Ramadan message signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Mr Rotimi Adebayo in Lagos on Saturday.
“As Muslims worldwide begins their one-month long Ramadan, they should diligently observe the period with the reading of Holy Qur’an, giving of alms, and prayers for the progress of the country.
“The sacred month is a time in which prayers are easily accepted and speedily answered by the Almighty Allah.
“All Muslims should use the holy month of Ramadan to diligently seek the face of Allah, give alms and assist the less privileged in the society, and pray for the restoration of lasting peace to our country’’, it said.
The statement held that Nigeria would overcome the security challenge facing it through prayers.
“With strict observance of all that is needful for Muslims in the next one month, particularly fasting and prayers with good conduct, there is no doubt that peace and normalcy will come back to the country.
“The North Eastern Region where Boko Haram insurgents are killing and maiming innocent people, all Muslims must use the period to offer special prayers for the release of over 200 Chibok school girls kidnapped two months ago’’, he added.
The lawmaker praised Nigerians for their resilience and perseverance in fighting the insurgents over the years, assuring them of better days ahead.
“Our people must be praised for being resilient, they are wonderful, they have persevered a lot but I want to assure them that their sacrifices and prayers will be rewarded by Allah at the end of it all’’, Ikuforiji said. (NAN)
