Abeokuta – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun said it had so far sanctioned 44 drivers of commercial vehicles through its mobile court for failure to install the Speed Limiting Device (SLD).
Mr Clement Oladele, the Sector Commander, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) In Abeokuta on Thursday.
Oladele explained that the vehicles were booked on Wednesday for failing to comply with the deadline for the installation of the device.
He said that 82 vehicles were booked, while 36 Vehicles were cautioned during the exercise.
“During our operation on Wednesday on the enforcement of the speed limiting device, a total of 82 Vehicles were stopped , with 44 vehicles booked, and 36 cautioned.
“A mobile court was also organised in Ota and I want to tell you that most of the offenders were fined N3,000.
“The installation of the device is for their own safety as it will reduce the rate of accidents on our roads.
“I urge all commercial vehicle owners to try to get the device because the FRSC would continue to monitor them to ensure compliance,” the sector commander warned.
