Lagos – A renowned sports analyst, Tayo Balogun, on Tuesday called for intensification of preparation towards the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics Games in Rio de Janairo, Brazil.
Balogun told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that Nigeria had failed to draw some lessons from the mistakes of the 2010 Olympics when the elite athletes failed to win any medal.
According to him, the poor preparations in the sports arena are not a reflection of the blue print produced at the end of the last presidential retreat held in the country. .

“When we failed at the London Olympics, we said we are going to go back to the drawing board; we are going to do this; we are going to do that. We are not doing that, we didn’t go back to that.
“And there was a national presidential retreat for sports, where so many things were taken care of, I mean in terms of how to provide money for training, provide money for athletes, provide money for
structures, provide money for preparation of the Olympics.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“The blue print was provided for all these.
“As I am talking to you there will be some development here and there but at the end of the day it will end up same of same.’’
