The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Lagos State University Chapter [SSANU-LASU] has suspended the strike action it embarked upon about two months ago.
The Union, in a letter addressed to the Chairman, Lagos State University Governing Council, Mr. Olabode Agusto, on August 1, 2014 after its Congress held on the same day, conveyed the decision after it had reviewed and considered amongst others, the assurance by the University Management and the Council to resolve the union’s demand on outstanding promotions at the next Council meeting slated for Friday, August 29, 2014.[eap_ad_2]
According to the statement signed by LASU’s public relations officer, Kayode Sutton, SSANU suspended the strike to allow the university to successfully hold the on-going 19th Convocation Ceremonies.
The union however requested the Council to assist in ensuring the release of June and July, 2014 salaries of its members which had been held on payment [HOP] during the strike period.
By this decision, members of the Non-Academic Union have fully resumed and commenced their statutory duties in the university.[eap_ad_3]
