Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has said it will join the proposed strike of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
On Friday, the NLC and Trade Union Congress declared an indefinite strike action from June 3, 2024, to protest the insensitivity of the government for agreeing to pay works the proposed N612, 000 to cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy.
SSANU, in a communique issued on Sunday at the National Secretariat, signed by Comrade Kingsley Okayi, and a copy made available to our correspondent reads: “In line with attached letter from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), which are an affiliate on the above subject and dated 31 May 2024 I am directed by the National president to request that you comply with the chapter to ensure a comprehensive closure of workplace with effect from Monday 3rd June, 2024 until further notice.
“You are also to liaise with your National Vice President and report the progress of the Industrial action to the National Secretariat” the statement said.
