JALINGO – Mr Titus Khanin, the Leader of Northern Taraba Elders Forum, has called for the zoning of the next governor of the state in 2015 to the south.
Khanin, who made the call during a news conference in Jalingo on Friday, said the zoning of the number one political office in the state to the south would ensure equity and justice.
He said former Gov. Jolly Nyame came from northern zone and ruled the state for eight years.
According to him, Gov. Danbaba Suntai from Central Zone is doing his second term, adding that it is fair that the southern zone be given its share in 2015.
Khanin said the elders had unanimously appealed to Chief David Kente, the Chairman of DSK Founding, to come home and run for the position.
“We acknowledge the contributions of Kente in improving our social well being over the years through the DSK Foundation.
“It is our belief that if he becomes the governor of the state by the grace of God, he will turn the economy of the state around for the benefit of all of us’’, he said.
He called on other groups of like minds to join the people of southern zone in canvassing support to produce the next governor of the state.
“The emergence of an indigene from the southern zone will be for the sake of fairness, peace and progress of the state.” (NAN)
