Mike Dio Jen, the lawmaker representing Karim-Lamido II in the Taraba State House of Assembly, has officially resigned from his legislative role after being appointed Commissioner for the Ministry of Tertiary Institutions.
His resignation follows Governor Agbu Kefas’s decision to bring him into the executive cabinet, a move that was formally announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Gibson Kataps, on April 15, 2025.
Confirming the development, Jen said he accepted the new role out of respect for the governor and commitment to the state’s progress. While acknowledging mixed reactions from his constituents, he expressed readiness to take on the new challenge.
Jen noted that his loyalty to Governor Kefas played a key role in his decision, and he believes stepping aside allows room for fresh representation in the Assembly.
With his exit, the Karim-Lamido II constituency seat is now vacant, and plans for a by-election are expected to begin shortly.
