Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has accepted the resignation of Muhammad Inuwa Idris, who served as the commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.
According to Naija News, Idris, a retired major-general, was appointed to the role in August 2024. In an official statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed his deep appreciation for Idris’ service to the state during his brief time in office.
The governor acknowledged the former commissioner’s vital role in setting up the ministry and commended his dedication. He stated, “We appreciate Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment to Kano State, from his military service to his contributions in government. We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he steps away from public service.”
Governor Yusuf further described Idris as a devoted public servant and a patriotic Nigerian. Despite his short tenure, the governor noted that he had established a strong foundation for the ministry, allowing his successor to build on the progress made.
Idris’ resignation comes shortly after that of another commissioner, Mohammed Diggol, who stepped down on January 5 from his position as Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
