The Bauchi State Government has approved the establishment of the Bauchi-Mingsheng Company to create jobs, increase internally generated revenue, and unlock investment opportunities.
This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Maiwada Bello, during a press briefing after the State Executive Council Meeting on Friday.
Bello explained that the initiative reflects the government’s vision to position Bauchi as a business and investment hub. He highlighted that in 2023, Governor Bala Mohammed led a delegation to Shandong Province, China, to attract investors.
“In the year 2023, a team led by Governor Bala Mohammed visited Shandong province of the People’s Republic of China to attract investors,” Bello said. “The trip has started yielding a significant result that led to the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with various companies with the state government, especially in mining, agriculture, tourism, and many other sectors. Hence, the memo for the establishment of Bauchi/Mingsheng Company after the follow-up visit by the Mingsheng officials and also after the subsequent visit by their technical personnel showing interest to invest in exploration and mining activities of Monoxide, Tin/Columbite, Zircon, and other rare earth elements, etc., in Toro and Dass Local Government Areas.”
The commissioner emphasized the state’s commitment to public-private partnerships and economic diversification, adding that the company, if well managed, could attract investment, spur innovation, and improve living standards in Bauchi.
“By exploring more opportunities, the company is expected to contribute to job creation and enhance the state’s internally generated revenue,” Bello said.
He further explained that the company will support industrial growth by providing raw materials like Tin, Monoxide, and Ilmenite, which are essential for the technology and construction industries. Additionally, mining activities are expected to lead to improved infrastructure, including better roads, benefiting surrounding communities.
Maiwada assured the public of his ministry’s dedication to working with other government sectors to generate revenue and drive economic development for the state.
