State House FC of Abuja on Saturday defeated Ogwuche Babes of Kogi 2-0 in a Group A Week 9 match in the ongoing Nigerian Women Professional Football League (NWPFL). The match, played at the Area 3 Sports Complex, saw the hosts full of action at the onset of the game. Uchenna Njeze delivered a shot two minutes into the game that went clear of their opponent goalkeeper, Nnu Eze. Coach Mary Benny of State House FC was delighted at the team’s performance, adding that they were top on the league table. “I am happy that we won the match; we are top on the league table now. “My girls are becoming exposed and I hope to see some of them playing in the national team’’, she said. The coach was optimistic that the team would gain promotion at the end of the season. Coach of Ogwuche Babes, Christopher Alor, said “my team did well, but we will have to go back to the drawing board in order to correct some of our mistakes.’’
