Maj.-Gen. David Aniete, the Commander, Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau, on Thursday, said the task force had recovered 120 stolen cows from cattle rustlers in the state.
Aniete made the disclosure during an interactive session with newsmen in Jos.
He said the cows were recovered by his men in Shendam Local Government Area of the state.
The commander warned those stealing cattle and their sponsors to desist from the act or face the wrath of his soldiers who he said were not resting on their oars to address the situation.
He urged Plateau citizens to cooperate with the STF and other security agencies to reduce castle rustling in the state.
The STF boss said cattle theft had been identified as one of the major causes of attacks in Plateau, saying if the theft was reduced, cases of attacks and counter attacks would also be reduced.
He commended stakeholders in the peace process, particularly journalists, for their contributions to the process.
Mr Katdaba Gobum, the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau Council, commended the commander and his men for the efforts in ensuring that peace reigned in the state.
He urged journalists to continue to be objective in their reportage of events.
