OS – A 25-year-old student of the University of Jos, Charles Alex, on Thursday  appeared before a Jos Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a laptop valued at N90,000.

Alex was alleged to have stolen the laptop from the house of Mr Bright Onuoha, who was his neighbour in Apata Area of Jos.

He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Jettei Tutei on a one-count charge of theft.

The prosecutor, Mr Ubi Isang, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 26, 2013 at about 5 p.m.

He said that Onuoha reported the matter at `A` Division Police Station in Jos.

Isang told the court that a neighbour sighted the accused when he came out from Onuoha’s room with the laptop at about 12 noon.

“During police investigation, another laptop stolen from Onuoha’s room by the accused was discovered.

“The accused failed to give concrete accounts of the laptops found in his room,’’ Isang said.

The prosecutor tendered the other laptop as evidence and presented one witness before the court.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The chief magistrate adjourned the case till June 30 for ruling. (NAN)
