Sokoto – A group of students supporting the APC, tagged ‘Sokoto Progressive Students’, on Friday cautioned the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), against any attempt to impose a governorship candidate on the party.
A statement signed by the group chairman, Nura Muhammad, made available to newsmen in Sokoto urged the party leadership to conduct free and fair primary to ensure justice to all the contestants.
It appealed to the national headquarters of the party to ensure adequate supervision of the primary to protect the credibility of the outcome.
“What we are asking for is free and fair primary in order to elect a candidate that can defeat PDP’s candidate in the next Governorship election,” the group said.
It added that “any attempt to impose candidate will be automatically rejected, henceforth we will mobilize against it.”
The group called on Sen. Aliyu Wamakko and others to allow internal democracy to prevail during the governorship primary.
All effort to get the reaction of APC state chairman, Alhaji Sadiq Achida, failed as he refused to answer phone call or respond to text message.
