Khartoum- The European Union on Wednesday commended the Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia on the recent political agreement they signed in Khartoum on the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GRED).
In a statement it issued in Khartoum, the EU said the pact marked an important political initiative for the management of the Nile waters.
EU has always supported an equitable outcome that will enable the waters of the Nile, on which millions of people depend for their life and livelihoods, to be used for the development of all.

It described the agreement as part of a process that would greatly enhance the prospects of prosperity and stability for the region.
“The EU stands ready to provide support as the parties now move to the important phase of implementing the agreement reached in Khartoum,” the statement said.
On Monday, the heads of states of Sudan, Omar Al-Bashir, Egypt, Abdul Fatah Al Sisi and PM of Ethiopia, Haile Mariam Dessalegn, signed the agreement in Khartoum. (PANA/NAN)
