LAGOS – King Sunny Ade, one of the nation’s foremost Juju music icon, says he does not select or push young talents away as he is ready to work with any budding talent that approached him.

The musician made the assertion in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos and said that he was in the family of the new generation of artistes.

He recalled performing on the same stage alongside side Wizkid, Olamide and other artistes at Mo’Abudu’s birthday anniversary which was held some weeks back.

The legendary singer, who turned 68 on Sept. 22, said that young artistes who were not able to play musical instruments should be disappointed because he left his guitar for a while but now, he is going back to it.

The “Synchro system” crooner added that he would help the nation’s music industry to get things right.

Speaking about music in Nigeria, the Juju music king explained that the Nigerian music industry itself needed a doctor to treat its ailment.

He said that some musicians could not afford to purchase their musical instruments, noting that “you can’t get a very good guitar at anything less than N60.000 except you want to buy a low quality guitar.

“Musical instruments are very expansive,” Ade said

He added that musicians were fashioning out ways of producing their music “and for you to satisfy Nigerians with your music, you must always be good at your craft which costs a lot of money.

“If young artistes want to copy my music, it will cost them a lot of money. It’s not only juju music; it also affects other genre of music in Nigeria,“ he said. (NAN)
