JALINGO – Gov. Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State has extolled the outstanding qualities of Mr Dennis Nev, a retired Permanent Secretary, Taraba State Government House Administration.
Suntai made the remarks on Sunday in Jalingo when he spoke as special guest of honour at a thanksgiving service and launch of a biography entitled: “The Man Dennis Orkuma Nev’’, written by Mr Justin Tyopuusu and Mr Richard Iormua.
The governor described the retired permanent secretary as a fine gentleman with unique qualities that were not common to come by in the society.
Represented by Mr Gideon Kataps, Suntai urged upcoming civil servants to emulate Nev’s qualities for a better society.
He said “Nev worked under me as permanent secretary, Government House Administration, for six years and I must say I enjoyed working with him.
“His humility, transparency, accountability and diligence should be emulated by all civil servants.’’
Suntai congratulated the authors of the biography for documenting the good virtues of Nev for the benefit of the present generation and for posterity.
In a sermon at the occasion, Rev. Emmanuel Bambur of Government House Unity Chapel, also urged all to emulate Nev’s good virtues and to put God first in everything they do in order to end well.
Responding, Nev thanked God for giving him the strength to serve the people.
He said “I thank God for his grace upon me and also thank former Gov. Jolly Nyame, who appointed me Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration in 2004, a position I maintained for nine years before I retired.’’
Nev advised civil servants in the country to imbibe the spirit of hard work, dedication to duty and patience for a better Nigeria. (NAN)
