Sundiata Post – The Super Eagles have been put in Pot 1 ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw event.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the draw method on its official website on Wednesday.
According to CAF, the highest ranking nations in the current FIFA Rankings, which were issued on June 20, 2024, would occupy Pot 1.
The Super Eagles are presently recognized as the continent’s fifth best squad.
Pot 1 also includes hosts Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The final qualifying draw will consist of 12 groups of four teams (Groups A through L), with the first and second place finishers in the eleven (11) groups that do not include tournament hosts Morocco will gain qualification to the competition.
The draw will be held on Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The AFCON 2025 finals will take place between December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
