SuperSport United has confirmed the dismissal of coach Cavin Johnson, as revealed by KickOff.com earlier today.
SuperSport United fire coach Johnson, Igesund favourite as replacement the favourite to replace the ex-Platinum Stars mentor.
Matsatsantsa has now explained their decision in a statement. SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews said: “We’ve had two coaches in 13 years and changing of coaches is not something we want at the club.

“But like all PSL clubs, we also have results-driven and want to compete with the best in the country in both the short and long-term.
“The spate of recent losses does not reflect the quality in our squad.”
Johnson is quoted as saying: “I was mandated to rebuild the team. I reduced the average age of the squad to 23 and we finished our first season in fifth position which was an improvement from the 12/13 season.
“This season we signed new players and again promoted from the academy. But it takes time for the team to gel and for results to come.
“Unfortunately management wanted immediate results and that does not always work when building a young team for the future.”
United’s U-19 coach Kaitano Tembo will oversee the first team for Saturday’s Absa Premiership clash with log leaders Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium. SuperSport’s academy technical director Kwanele Kopo and chief scout Webster Lichaba will assist Tembo. (kickoffnigeria)
