Abuja- Gen. Martin-Luther Agwai, Chairman, Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), on Thursday said that SURE-P would ensure efficient use of funds in spite of the anticipated decline on funds accruing to the organisation.
Agwai made the statement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
NAN recalls that the Federal Government instituted SURE-P, to reinvest its share of the savings arising from the reduction of subsidies on petroleum products.
SURE-P therefore ensures that the Federal Government’s part of the savings from fuel subsidy reduction is applied on critical infrastructure projects.
Agwai said that in spite of the anticipated cut in the revenue of SURE-P, the organisation would employ the best managerial practice to cushion the effect of the expected reduction on its projects.
“ Definitely we have to live in realistic world; if there is that deduction, it will affect Sure-P itself.
“But what we are going to do is that we will be feasible enough in whatever we do.
“The best skill of management is to do the most with the little that you have and that is what SURE-P is going to do.

“We will continue to do the most with the little resource that we have; definitely there is going to be a cut on what SURE-P is getting,‘’ he said.
The chairman also called for consolidation on the diversification of the economy, given the enormous natural resources and population in the country.
“The reality is that we cannot survive on one thing; we need to diversify.
“And looking at our population and the resources that God has given us in this country, If we diversify, it is quite easy and possible.
“And with the manpower we have in this country, we will definitely make it, ‘’he said. (NAN)
