LAGOS – A 46-year-old driver, Monday Bibiaro, who stood surety for an accused and allegedly presented forged documents, on Thursday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.Bibiaro, who lives at No. 19, Swamp St., Olodi Apapa, is being tried for presenting forged documents.
The Magistrate, Mrs Salama Matepo, who was quick to recognise the documents as fake, ordered that Bibiaro be taken to a police station for interrogation.
The prosecutor, ASP Austin Orji, had told the court that the offence was committed on May 14 at about 12.30 p.m.at Tinubu Magistrates’ Court.
He alleged that the accused presented forged documents to the magistrate while standing surety for an accused.
Orji said the offence contravened Section 363(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Ruling on the bail application of the accused, Matepo, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to June 16 for trial. (NAN)
