Two persons were allegedly killed on Thursday by suspected herdsmen who stormed Owode-Ketu village in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The victims – Isiaka Apesin and Adebayo Oguntosin were said to have been ambushed by the herders who bolted into a nearby forest after killing the villagers.
The attack, according to sources was carried out by the herders around 5 a.m.
It was learnt that the bodies of the victims were evacuated from the scene of the attack by men of Eggua Police Division.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun Police Command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said efforts were being made to apprehend the herders from the nearby forest where they are suspected to be hiding.
He said: “The attack looks like a reprisal but our men have been drafted to the area and with the assistance of the local vigilance group and youths, they are already combing the forest nearby to arrest the suspected herders.’’
