A suspected armed robber, Merit Salvation has been arrested by the Bayelsa State Police Command, Azikoro Division, and a locally-made pistol with three 9mm ammunition has been recovered.
It was gathered that the successful arrest was carried out in collaboration with youth leaders and vigilantes from Akaba community, in Yenagoa, the state’s capital.
A statement issued on Monday, through the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, noted that “On 23rd August 2021, while on patrol at Akaba community at about 0230 hours, Police operatives arrested the suspect one Merit Salvation ‘m’ 23 years, in possession of a locally made pistol and three .9mm ammunition”.
The suspect is cooperating with the Police in its investigation, he added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng E. Echeng, advised residents to always volunteer useful information that will assist the police in fishing out criminals in the state.
