KUALA LUMPUR – A senior official suspended from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has resigned from his post, the organisation said on Wednesday, amid accusations he hid documents during an audit in 2012.

“Alex Soosay has tendered his resignation as AFC general secretary with immediate effect,’’ the AFC said in a statement.
The Kuala Lumpur-based AFC added that deputy general secretary Windsor John will be in charge of the secretariat until a new general secretary is appointed.
An AFC employee accused Soosay of asking him to hide some documents during the 2012 audit by Pricewaterhouse Coopers on the organisation’s finances amid corruption allegations.
The accusation prompted Soosay’s suspension last month. (dpa/NAN)
