SYDNEY – Ceremonies were held on Tuesday for two hostages killed during the Lindt Cafe siege in central Sydney, a report has said.
It said that family and friends of cafe manager, Tori Johnson, 34, attended a funeral only a few hundred metres from where the siege took place on Monday last week.
The report said that after the funeral, Johnson’s partner, Thomas Zinn led mourners in placing flowers at the enormous field of flowers that has grown outside the cafe.
Johnson has been praised for his role in the siege, with reports saying he fought to take away the gunman’s weapon.
The report said a memorial service would also take place for Katrina Dawson, 38, barrister and mother of three young children, who was buried earlier.
According to the report, if no one claims the body of the gunman, Man Monis, he would be given a pauper’s burial.
However, several Muslim funeral officers refused to bury him. (dpa/NAN)
