LAGOS – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South-West Public Relations Officer, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye on Saturday evening said the number of persons rescued in the Synagogue Church Guest House building collapse had risen to 111. [eap_ad_1] He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the number of those feared dead had also risen to 17.
Earlier in the day, he had put the number of those rescued at 109 and the dead at 16.
He said among those rescued was a child whose age was between 10 and 12 years and that they were rushed to one of the State government hospitals where they were admitted.
Farinloye said the collapsed structure in Synagogue was a five storey building which initially was two-storey, adding that the church authority later decided to put three additional floors.
He explained that the remaining three floors were still being worked on when it collapsed while the finished floors were being used as chalets for visitors from outside the country.
When NAN visited the scene on Saturday, a market woman, Mrs Ijeoma Onyebuchi, who was trading along the road, told NAN that it was a painful incident.
NAN reports that the five-storey building under construction owned by Synagogue of All Nations, collapsed on Friday, killing some workers and some members of the church.(NAN)
