LAGOS – John Peters, a referee in the table tennis event of the ongoing Ibile Games in Lagos on Friday commended the players for the high level of discipline they had displayed.
The 2014 Ibile Games which is the Lagos state Sportsa Festival commenced on April 30 will be concluded on May 11.
Peters told NAN at the Knock-up Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, venue of the table tennis event, that the athletes had been very coordinated.
He added that the Games would feature three categories, namely able, deaf and the para.
The able consists of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, senior mixed doubles, boys and girls doubles, secondary school boys and girls singles.
The Deaf category consists of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, deaf secondary school boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles.
The para category consists of men’s closed doubles that classes 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 8, 10.
The Women’s closed singles with classes 3,4 and 5,6 and 8, 10, while men’s singles open with classes 1 to 5 and 6 to 10.
Women’s singles open with classes 1 to 5 and 6 to 10.
Peters said that the competition was being guided according to international standards.
“We have set times for a particular rounds of matches to be over and we are managing time to work around it,” he said. (NAN)
